WHEN TO TEST
WHEN TO TEST
Puppies & Kittens: ALL Pets should be screened for intestinal parasites every 3 months
Dogs & Cats : ALL Pets should be screened for intestinal parasites every 6 months
New Pet or Rescue Pet: Newly acquired puppies or rescue dogs should be screened to identify and treat any parasitic infections they may have acquired.
Exposure to High-Risk Environments: Pets that spend time in high-risk environments, such as dog parks, boarding & training facilities, and grooming salons
If your pet exhibits any of these common symptoms :
- Gastrointestinal Symptoms: Dogs with gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, or changes in appetite may require a parasite screen to rule out parasitic infections as a potential cause.
- Visible Worms in Stool: If you observe worms or segments of worms in your dog's stool, it's a clear indication of a parasitic infection that needs to be identified and treated.
- Weight Loss: Unexplained weight loss in a dog may be a sign of internal parasites, especially in cases of heavy infestation.
- Lethargy: Parasitic infections, particularly those involving blood-feeding parasites like hookworms, can lead to anemia, which can result in lethargy and weakness.
- Bloody Diarrhea: Bloody diarrhea can be a symptom of certain parasitic infections, such as Giardia or Coccidia.
- Scratching or Scooting: Dogs that frequently scratch their rear end or scoot their hindquarters on the ground may have tapeworms, which can cause anal irritation.
- Visible Parasites in Fur: Some parasites, like fleas and ticks, can be visible in a dog's fur, especially in heavily infested dogs.

THE POWER OF PCR TESTING
THE POWER OF PCR TESTING
PCR tests are exceptional because they detect very small amounts of genetic material from pathogens or abnormal cells, so a small sample is all that is needed to complete a lab test. A testing machine measures the amount of genetic material in the sample to determine how much of the pathogen or abnormal cell is present. PCR tests are very accurate and sensitive for diagnosing diseases or finding genetic changes that can cause disease.
PCR tests are also very fast, which is why Kedi Labs offers them to our customers. Our mission is to offer affordable, fast pre-screening labs for pet owners to ensure that patients needing care urgently are seen quickly by their veterinarians. We are committed to making a positive impact in the field of veterinary care and making quality veterinary care more accessible to pet owners.
