Collection: Urinary Problems: Find the Right Pet Test
My pet is straining, urinating often, or having accidents. What should I test for?
Urinary signs can come from bacterial infection, inflammation, crystals, stones, and other urinary tract conditions. Kedi Labs offers species-specific urine testing that can provide laboratory information to share with your veterinarian.
Choose the right urine test
For cats: The Cat UTI BioScreen & Culture includes a complete urinalysis with culture and susceptibility testing when indicated. The kit includes hydrophobic litter to help collect urine at home.
For dogs: The Dog UTI BioScreen & Culture includes a complete urinalysis with culture and susceptibility testing when indicated. The kit includes tools for collecting a mid-stream urine sample at home.
The Kedi process
Choose the species-specific test → collect urine at home → send the sample according to the kit instructions → veterinary laboratory testing → receive results → share them with your veterinarian and decide what comes next.
Important for cats: Repeated straining with little or no urine can indicate a urinary blockage. This can be life-threatening, especially in male cats, and requires immediate veterinary care rather than a mail-in test.
Seek prompt veterinary care if a dog or cat cannot urinate, appears severely painful, is vomiting, becomes very lethargic, or is rapidly worsening.
Urinalysis can provide useful clues, but some urinary conditions require a physical exam, imaging, or additional testing.
